Probably My Last Area

Here are pics of my new place. This week were able to find a lot of people. We have a lot of eternal investigators. or people who have been investigating the Church forever but won't get baptized. We got him to go to church and we want to get him to get baptized Christmas day for his family. It would be a cool surprise. But we have a baptism on the 28th looks like. It's not for sure for sure. But we have a lot of people we just need to get them progressing and keep looking. We have this lady Sophia who used to hate Mormons and now she asks a million questions and is really interested in knowing if the Book of Mormon is true. Also we have that young couple who we are working there papers out and they should get baptized next month. Other than that we are in the finding process. But we got 10 referrals this week so we can;t complain much. The work is moving.

Gizile, from Paipote, got baptized and wrote that it was one of the best decisions she has made and that she felt a calm feeling. She loved it and now wants to help her family. And when she gets back to Brazil she'll live close to the temple so she will be able to go. Like I told dad, it's awesome seeing less actives and converts going to the temple!

Funny story. This week we taught this kid who was like a punk. I guess hes been a rebel his whole life. But we shared Mosiah 2:41 with him and I told him that really this is the way to TRUE happiness. And he said, "Man you guys gotta be here for a reason and I want to change I just don't know when I will." I told him now and he was stoked to have us keep coming. He just couldn't go to church. He's 25 and I think he is a drug dealing because his house is unreal. ha ha But he's awesome.

Anyway that's about it from this week. We had to go to Antofagasta because my comp was sick but now he's good. Hope everything is alright at home. I haven't checked this area out for Skype but we can do it later. Like 4pm would probably be good for us. I would imagine there will be no problems but I will let you know next week. Thanks for the packages and for the pics. Love you guys!

New Area ... Lot's Of Work To Do

My new comp is a stud. He is from Argentina and he's a goof. He jokes non stop. Elder Levi. The town we live in, Iquique, is right on the beach. Literally a walk across the street, Climb over a few rocks and I would be in the water ha ha. It's an awesome place. The work is getting better ...  well going to be getting better. We are downtown. So there isn't a lot of houses. But there are a ton of people in each house, People come from Bolivia and Peru a lot and live in my sector. So we don't have any Chileans as investigators. Which is good because all of my converts are Chileans. Ha.

Our week was good. We didn't have very many lessons because my comp was sick. I'm actually in the President's office because he is sick but we should be back in our sector tomorrow. Too many bus rides ... I feel sick. To get from Copiapo to Iquique is 15 hours. Then to come to Antofagasta for my comp is 6 hours both ways. I hate bus rides. haha That  is something I probably won't miss. ha ha I know a bunch of elders in my zone and know some members up here that I met in Copiapo. They invited me to their house, but I cant go. Ha.

I guess in Paipote, my investigators are having a tough time adapting to the new missionary. I felt bad like I made them more attached to me than the gospel. But I wrote them just now telling them they need to keep listening to him to have an eternal family. Honestly I've missed my last sector but have to put it behind me. I am stoked to do the same thing here. I want to find families. Nothing beats baptizing families! And remember Pia? She wrote me and is finishing up her personal progress. Just has to finish her project. She tells me her favorite hymns and stuff. It's funny. It shocks me to see someone who didn't want to take her headphones out the first time she went, to knowing and loving the hymns and finishing her personal progress. Ha I hope to continue the work here.

We have good people. My comp said a lot of people got used to the last missionary, and that it would be hard for me. But this investigator who said she never liked sharing with us starting asking about the Book of Mormon. And she said "Why haven't you shown this to the catholic church? Someone should try to show them this if its true." I responded I'm sure they've tried. But they don't believe it. But she promised to pray and read the whole thing. She wants to read it all. ha ha

Oh also we have this couple who only lives together right now. But they want to get married. There names are Cindy and Gonzalo, They want to get married on the beach and baptized in the ocean the same day. So in the next two months, once we get past all the marriage papers Chile has we will have a baptism in the ocean. They are an awesome couple. But that's about it on the work. I like my new sector just getting used to the new way of work here. It's different than any sector I've ever been.

Jordan looks like a bum. ha ha He looks famous though. And tell Jake he is a preppy boy. And tell Megan she isn't allowed to talk to boys. Instead she should just take Max on walks :)
Thanks for everything and tell Kaleb to send me pics of his baptism.

Chau :) Love you!

The Saddest Sunday

Well I don't have a ton of time. My comp is waiting for me. But next week I will tell about this week. The saddest Sunday of my entire life. Everyone cried. I bawled in my testimony. I don't cry a lot but dang, I couldn't help it. My investigators all cried and the worst is that all six of them that went wanted me to stay and teach them!

And Gizile was like I hope you stay to be able to baptize me. But I'm in a new sector now. They have people but not very many. So I'll just do the same I did in Paipote.

I'm in Iquique with Elder Levi. He's from Argentina. He's really chill and this is a cool sector. I'm downtown so its like buildings and stuff.

Took me 15 hours to get here. And I will most likely finish my mission here. I don't know what I'll do for Christmas. When I meet the members and stuff I will let you know.

I'm stoked Kaleb has his first baptism, He is a stud! My last day a ton of members gave me a bunch of presents. I almost didn't have space in my suitcases. It was nuts running from house to house saying bye. It was sad day.  I'll send some pictures real quick. But we've gotta to go real quick.

I hope all is well and love you all, Keep me updated and know the Church is True :)

I Could Be A Missionary Forever

I loved the pics. Everyone looks so different. That’s good things are good in school. I’ll let you know when I get my package. I bet I’ll get it in my next sector because this weekend we have transfers. Our president wants every missionary in his sector for 6 months. So I think that’s it for me. I would assume that I’ll be in a different place for Christmas. If I stay that would be soo much time.

Tell Jake and Megan they’re studs!! I’m impressed. Tell Megan to send me more songs, Her song is my ringtone also the other missionaries in my pension stole it and it’s now their ringtone too. Has been for like 3 weeks. haha.

It’s all right that she left, We made up for it this week. We have Nelson getting baptized this week :) This week was incredible. My comp and I we were work horses. haha We found awesome people.

First the story of Nelson. He’s been through a lot, He used to live in Santiago and other parts. But he came here to live with our mamita, his aunt. He said he came to basically change his life. He used to be Catholic but he wants to start over and have a fresh start. He’s a stud! So this Saturday at 6 he’s getting baptized and I’ll be doing. Probably my last Saturday here. I have never cried leaving a sector but I think this will be my first. I have seen the progress of everyone here so it’ll be hard to say goodbye.

But before setting the date with Nelson, we brought the Brazilian girl, Gizile, who I told you about to a baptism. We had to get there early to bring the dress for the other elders. So we had like an extra half hour so we took a member from the other ward and had a lesson with her. We talked about baptism and how it’s a new start and asked if she would like that. She said yes and then we asked which day would be better the 21st or the 14th. She said the 14th and then went around telling all the people from the other ward that she’s getting baptized the 14th!! She later told us that when she was in Brazil she felt empty. She felt like she needed to have something else in her life. She was deciding since June if she should come and came a week after we found her sister and brother-in-law both who are inactive. And the way we found him is we were walking and he saw us and felt bad for us because it was so hot. haha. So he took us to our lesson. And yelled us his address as we were getting out of the car. We found his house and a week later Gizile got here. Now she’s helping us reactivate them and she wants to help her family in Brazil when she goes back. It’s unreal how our Heavenly Father set everything up so we could find her. She will be a strong member.

Oh and also we have Cristinas family. Long story too. We found this young 21-year-old guy a while ago doing contacts. When he opened the door at first he wanted nothing really to do with us. We felt we should just talk about him and his family. So we just started talking about his car, house, family and whatever. He showed us his house and his stereo system and because we were just friendly he invited us back to his son’s birthday party. We thought "That is going to be a waste of time. We doubt we will go but we will see." So we told him yeah we will see. The night of the party we had nothing else to do. Our lessons got cancelled so we thought well let’s go to the party. So we went and we met the mom. She offered us cake and then introduced me to her daughter. She said "My daughter’s beautiful right?" It was a bit awkward but they liked us so they told us where they live. So we went. She then invited us to lunch and promised to come to church. So yesterday just her and her daughter came because the other sons and the Dad we dead asleep. But they liked church and we taught the restoration in the afternoon with the whole family. They loved it! I mean like LOVED it. They thought it was awesome so we challenged them to baptism. They all responded "I’m Catholic, But never go to church. So yeah I’ll do it." haha Then they told me they wished we would have found them earlier because I’m probably leaving. And the coolest thing is the neighbors all tell us this lady has helped all of them. She’s the nicest like truly sweetest lady I've met. I didn't get a pic with them but this week for sure. Our president is stoked with all our success and the ward is more excited to help in missionary work. Gizile, the Brazilian, I didn't even talk to her at church because all the members were around her so much. It was like perfect. When we leave she’ll have people to support her.

This week is one where you think "I could be a missionary forever." I love this work and know we are blessed to be the instruments of the Lord. That’s all. Love you all, Thanks for helping me get here!

This Mission Has Saved My Life

The mission has been great! This week has been a very adventurous week. We just have had Satan working against us. We had a baptism date move to another city with a guy. It was a bummer but the rest of our pool are progressing.

We had three people who came to church with us. He is the nephew of our mamita and wants to know more about the Church. The mamita is so funny – she keeps telling him "You need to get him baptized" And he says were working on that right now, So he’s set! He’s a nice guy. Then we have a girl from Brazil. Haha This week was kinda funny. We had a lesson with her Tuesday, And she lives with her sister and brother in law. They were talking to us and the brother in law started speaking English and said "She likes you." And some other things that I didn’t understand. I quickly responded "She likes my accent in Portuguese? Awesome!"

But later we talked to her and she says she wants to know about the Church not just because she likes us. She’s unreal and is teaching us Portuguese. After  church she said she felt a peace and that she will keep asking to know if she should be baptized.

Then we found this other family that has helped a ton of people where we live. I guess they are quite well off and have found people who lived in the street and have took them in and helped them get on their feet and get working. We met one guy named Joel, Who was living in their dog house, They helped him to the point where he has his own house and is now helping others. They’re like the most amazing family I’ve met in my mission. We shared with them about our church and they liked our morals and what we believe in. They weren’t able to go this week, But next week they promised they would go to church. Oh and the mom offered me her daughter but as a joke, Ha That’s actually how we found them. But they’re incredible.

We have a few families we might stop working with. It’s a bummer because they are awesome people just not interested in learning more. It’s like we talk about eternal families and they don’t want it. Its sad more than anything, It’s like you said it breaks your heart. But you can only keep loving them and have the faith to help them change.

I felt like this week Heavenly Father has blessed us a lot, We have been finding, We just have to stay focused and obedient and see it through the end. I love this work, And love this gospel. It’s saved my life and now I’m here to save others. Love you all thanks for everything. :)

I Love Chile!

This week was a lot of teaching. Not so much finding. We have Gabriel and Patricia a young couple who doesn’t like any other religion besides ours because we are the most normal. They love us and they invited us to have a BBQ on Saturday, We went then after we watched families can be together forever. They liked it, Just they’re not married. So we have to help them get married. Then we have the other lady who reminds me of mom, She went to church and liked it. She’s getting baptized at the end of the month. After her is Gizile, the Brazilian. She’s awesome, but she got sick and didn’t go to Church. I think she got nervous because she’s only been in Chile for like two weeks. But we talked to her and she was like "I liked reading the Book of Mormon, And how exactly does the answer come?" She’s sincerely looking for an answer! She’s awesome. We haven’t even really been able to teach her either. We told her what the Book of Mormon is, Then gave it to her to read it. We have an appointment Thursday. Then we have a few other families and another lady who wants to be baptized. I love the mission, the people, the spirit. I want more success and more people but this week we just have to keep talking to people.

This lady offered me her daughter this week. She was like "This is my daughter, isn´t she beautiful?" I said Yeah then got her direction to go teach the family. Because they’re married!!! In Chile it is rare when you find a married couple. Everybody here hates commitment. Almost everyone cheats on each other. It’s sad. But were changing that.

I feel blessed though, I have felt like this place has changed me a ton, We’ve helped a lot of people and in helping we’ve been blessed to be stronger, More love instruments in our Heavenly Father’s hands. I don’t know if anything better than that exists? Literally helping God save his Children. I appreciate all you’ve done for getting me here. Helping me from a delinquent into a missionary. Thanks for everything, With much love from Chile.

I Totally Love Success Stories!

Well this week was a blast! We found a bunch of people! We found this family who love us they live together and aren´t married but they loved our message about how families can be together and they liked church. We have been working hard. Then we found a guy who used to share with the missionaries and like it.

Then we found a Brazilian girl and her sister is a member and she got to Chile like a week and two days ago. But she liked what we shared with her and she went to a Halloween activity with us. I had pics but my companion was messing with my camera and deleted them... But she’s teaching us Portuguese.. It’s sick! She’s awesome. She’s 25 and her sister and brother-in-law want to know what they need to do to get sealed!! Awesome! Then what else ... oh Claudia quit smoking and she’s going to the temple!!

We went to the Gonzalez house (the family we baptized) for Halloween and found out her sister lived in West Jordan for a while. We lived right by her but she’s inactive. But we are helping them out, even though they aren’t in our area. When they’re there we talk!! Also we met the son of one of the 33 miners that were stuck in that mine tragedy. I think we might be getting a pic with him this week. Someone famous!! I’ve been hear so long I feel like I know everyone! hahah

But we’ve felt the Spirit a lot this week. We’ve had to stop going by some people and its always sad but we felt inspired to use our time focusing on people that will progress while we are here, ya know what I mean? So we are still looking and working with the families we have.

Hey you remember when I was in El Salvador? It was tough but a family who were like our best buds came down to Copaipo to see me. They told me a bunch of people got baptized. And I was like what … who!? And they were almost all the investigators that we found!! I thought my time there was basically a waste but I thanked my Heavenly Father for having them come and let me know all that. I was so happy!

Then Pia from Arica wrote me saying how much her life had changed and said, “Thanks for pushing me to make good choices even when I was stubborn.” I totally love success stories! hahah :)

Anyways that’s my life this week. We played football and soccer … oh and we got some sick jerseys for Paipote.

Love you all!!!

Here are the SICK jerseys!

We Challenged 9 People But...

Well I don't have a lot this week. We challenged about 9 people to baptism but they almost all slept in for church except for one. The ward still loves us.

We didn't have water for a week haha and finally got it Thursday. We had to shower in the house of a member for a week straight. But the new missionary in our pension is cool, His name is Elder Storey and he's from Cali

Our Claudia this week fasted so she could stop smoking and go to the temple. She went from telling the missionaries she's never going to church (and even said once she doesn't believe its true) to knowing the church is true and getting ready for the temple. Ha I feel like she's a convert because she got baptized twenty years ago and never went after. The other day she said, "You guys are changing my life so much!" (in a voice like geez haha).

Then our converts are doing good. Not much going on just working with the members and consistently finding new people. We're teaching this sick lady who is like rich and always says when she's committed she's committed, And she said yes to getting baptized at the end of November. We have a lot of potential, just have to live up to it this month.

I love you Mom and Dad and everybody. Hope all is well, Keep the faith :)

Im Staying!

IM STAYIN! I'll be with Elder Golpe for one more transfer. And I am still in Paipote. I guess there is someone who needs me here. It'll be good to stay here one more transfer!

Sounds like you had fun in St. George. How come Jordan didn't go? Isn't Brandon home from his mission now? It's better with more kids haha

This week was good. We haven’t had water for the last four days. The office said they would pay it automatically but haven’t been doing it.. So we haven’t paid the bills in 3 months. But we are working to get it fixed.

We found people this week. We found these two girls Valeska and Dyan who are awesome and want to know more about the church. And then we found this other family who’s interested but mostly their daughter Javiera and her friend Camila. They all want to know if what Joseph Smith saw is true and stuff. They’re all really cool. They’re awesome people.

Our district is killing it. We got people to church and have a ton of potentials. We just need to get them baptized, Ha but we really have the best district I’ve seen in my entire mission. Hard workers!! The mom of the family we baptized just got a calling. And the girl we baptized gave a talk yesterday. It went well! She’s awesome. Then this lady Claudia who, before I met her didn’t want anything to do with the church but I baptized, is taking the classes to get ready to go to the temple to do baptisms. I don’t think the family is ready yet/ They want to wait.

I’m not sure what else to say. I’m still loving it, we just have a lot of work to get the branch to become a ward!! But were going to get it!!

I love you guys and appreciate you all! I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you!! Keep me updated CHAU!!

I'm Glad I Came On A Mission!

This week is transfers so we will see what happens... I love this sector and the people.

The president's a good guy. I like him he's really humble. He has really good vision just the rules with baptism are changed so yeah its just different but its a good change, He's going to make a mission better than it was and really build up the church.

I really do sound Latin? Looks like you had a fun week. The pics look awesome and a get away sounds awesome to St George.. This week was weird Its like I missed you guys more.

But this week was awesome. We had a bunch of testimony building experiences. The first was this lady stopped smoking and has been going to church a while. And we stopped talking to her about cigarettes because it didn't seem like it was a problem. But during the lesson I felt like we should ask her, But thought naahhh she's fine. We did the last prayer and were about to leave and I felt it again. And she was like how did you know? And I was like know what. And she said did my son tell you? And I was like no why? She told us that the day before she had fallen and that she felt really bad. But we were able to tell her like don't give up! Repent and keep moving forward.

That's the first one then the second we have kinda been working with this family who live together. The husband isn't a member but has been to church with his girlfriend a bunch. But they don't want to get married. Anyway they called and asked if we could go to the hospital to give a blessing. I was like for sure so we went at a time when we normally have time and we gave him a blessing. He was way drugged up because the pain was so bad. And it still was hurting with all the drugs. We gave him the blessing and his girlfriend called the next day and said you'll never believe what happened! He woke up and the pain was basically gone. And his mom is catholic and even said we were so blessed from the blessing. It was sweet.

The third was I was helping out with the relief society activity like getting everything coordinated. (Missionaries do a lot here ha) But the president had said a pray in the morning, She shared this in her testimony. But she said a prayer in the morning saying like I feel alone I need help. And the sisters of the ward called me and said hey can you call the pres and ask if she needs help. So I called her and it was like a huge answer to her prayers and everything turned out fine. It was a sweet week! We challenged a bunch of people to baptism. They all said yes when they get there answer. But none of them went to church.. Was a bummer but they are all cool people and we've got a good pool. The cool thing is they are all really like faithfully people, really accepting.

So we just have to keep working. I love this mission and know we are being extremely blessed. I'm glad I came ha :) Love you guys keep me updated on life in the US!! Chile is awesome, Sandy but awesome. Wouldn't change this for the world :)

Here's some pics!!

This Week Was Sick!

This week I sent a bunch of questions for Zac to answer (he isn't too descriptive sometimes)

OK Mom, here's your answers.

Did you get a new companion?  Please let me know if you do have a new one and where he is from.
1. Nope. Still with the same one from Argentina.

Do you know your release date yet?
2. Mom I still have a ton of time left. I don't know it and don't really want to haha

Are you still in the same district as Tanner Mangum?  Are you still District Leader?
3. Yeah I am this week we did splits actually he's a cool kid. Hes a stud for how much time he has. And yeah I am district leader.

Did you know that Capiapo is where 33 miners were trapped and it was all over the news?  (Found that out when looking for pics)
4. Yeah I was about to tell you this week, We want to go to the mine soon. Were planning it out!! If we can..

Is stuff expensive where you are?  We would like some little stuff from Chile for Christmas, so get on that soonJ (Please)
5. Its kinda expensive. But I will get you guys stuff. I'm working on buying us all Chile futbol jerseys.. But the guys taking forever!!

So do you want me to buy you a camera for Christmas or can you buy one there?
6. I fixed it :) It was my memory card. It was too big.

Did you get your shoes fixed?
7. Yeah I got them fixed, They are fine now!!

Do you know a sister who got bit by a dog?  I read her blog
8. I don't know her. What's her name.. I'll take pics promise!! tons!!

We thought a lot about you guys while watching Conference. Wasn’t it amazing?
My favorite was probably David Bednar's. Or a seventies who talked about eternal consequences when his family went on a trip instead of church. They were amazing this year I loved them.

This week was sick. We found this couple who lives together but is getting married the 16th. We met her at a less actives house. And she was like hitting on me hard core and then said I want you guys to come by and we were like uhhh yeah. Like thinking she was a snake. Or someone flirty ya know. But we never found her house but we saw her in the street and we went and she like stopped being like flirty and not serious and before we even taught her she said I want to get baptized and be more mature and keep the commandments. And also she wants her husband to get baptized too with her.

But we thought oh it'll be tough because shes not married because its hard in Chile to get married quick. But then we went back and they invited us to her wedding. We were like GREAT we will get you all ready. They're awesome.  They're already planning it all out and we've had one lesson!!!

Then this other family we talked to the mom (It was a reference) and she said she would be baptized when she gets her answer. Then we met this OTHER lady who said she would too but she lives together with someone. But she was awesome. And she said she never wanted to get married and we started talking about the law of chastity and eternal marriage. We found out its because she's insecure, But she said if she felt secure about her marriage and her husband was willing to work on like an eternal marriage she would do it. And started asking about how we baptize and if it's ok if she had been baptized by the catholic church when she was young and stuff. It was a blessing. We put a crazy high goal And we've seen the Lord helping us to achieve it.

Then conference just topped it all off. Wow, The spirit was so strong all the talks were so bold and perfect for missionary work. So many about the work too, We need to keep working strong. I'm glad to be a missionary in these times. The family we baptized went and liked it a lot they want to see other talks from the prophet and stuff. It was cool to see there whole family there. It was a sick Sunday :)

Thanks for the updated hope work is well know I pray for you all constantly.

Love You :)

Our church got robbed, they took the TV and DVD player...

My birthday was awesome. Remember how I told you we have been working with members, and because of that they all love us. So like 5 people gave us cakes. I gained a ton of weight pretty sure and my fridge is full of cakes. Ha it was an awesome week, but I still haven't gotten my package. But it is in the office, so it will get sent don't worry. The office should bring it down here soon, not sure when but soon.

In my next package I need contacts. 'Im out and will probably have to buy some here... even though they are sticking expensive.. forty bucks!! But I have to do it I only have one in my eye right now... haha im having a rough time reading this.

So wait you're changing all the rooms now? I dont understand? I dont want to sleep on a little bed.. Ive been using a twin for almost a year in a half and I dont fit!! Haha we will just move it back down. Yeah I heard BYU kind of has been sucking. One of these years they will be good and Jordan can be happy.  Im sure its cool and different to just having two kids at home.  How is kaleb has he written you?  I heard the recording you sent of him speaking Swedish,  his language sounds cooler than spanish not gonna lie.

Its going allright. It's good, we just are struggling finding. But this week finally things are starting to pick up. We got some references so we will see. My comp is cool but sometimes he has his moments. Buts so far I can't complain cause he wants to work. But the family we baptized and everyone are staying strong so things are good. Looks like they're going to have callings soon. They're awesome. you still havent answered about if we are going to come back.. I'll take it as a no? Ha, but this week we found a ton of people that wanted to fight with us. Telling us our religion was crappy, that we didn't need anything else but the bible and all this stuff. But every time I showed them verses talking about it, saying why it was necessary. Then we invited them to pray, but we felt attacked. It was weird and has happened more in this week than my entire mission. But I felt bad because they would ingnore me and just talk to my comp. And he is new so he didnt know how to react or respond. They just tore him apart. It was sad but I helped him feel better. Then we found a family who wants us to eat lunch with them. So we should get some good lessons in the week. Just have to keep moving forward. That's about it, I can't thing of anything else we did. We have a ward activity like a dessert festival and I made smoothies. They were good. It was fun but we were there for a bit then left. Oh and our church got robbed. They took the TV and DVD player. They broke through the roof it was nuts. Chilean's are like that, everyone steals. Well thats about it.

My camera basically is broke, but I can get the memory card to work. But the other one works, so I'll switch my stuff over and use the other one to start sending you pics... Im sorry. Send me pics of the new room. Tell everyone I love them!! Love you guys!!

Thanks for everything mom and dad, appreciate it :) Love U

Look, we can't do this alone...

Yeah this week was allright. That weird that it seems faster for Kaleb than it did for me, it's because you miss him more.... haha no just kidding :) I heard about BYU, that stinks.

I haven't gotten the package.. looks like I will get it after my birthday. But, there are a few people who invited me over to there house, so its fine. And we bought a cake for our district.

Anyways this week we basically are just looking for new investigators. We found a few people like this one lady who is interested in families that can be eternal and this other guy who at first was like "there doesn't exist a true church". And by the end of the visit is was like "yeah I believe there is a true church, I mean if you guys tell me there is I'll believe it". Ha, it was funny but kinda cool. But we still need to find more people for a pool of investigators. We have been talking to everyone, And I mean EVERYONE ha, its fun actually.

It just seems less effective, but lately the members haven't been talking to the references or they make excuses for not going to visit people with them. But I gave a talk saying like look, we can't do this alone or the branch will stay small.  We can do this together and it will grow. And I shared a story about our mamita and how to get the dirt stains out of my comps shirts, she had to work her butt off, she told us. And I was like we need to do the same with the people who have sins or problems, work our butt of to fix it. Everyone laughed haha, it was good.
Besides that nothing new has happened, just searching. But if we stay obedient and keep working we will find, just takes time. But thanks for everything.
I cant believe I'll be 21 tommorrow, Can you say OLD.

Anyway, love you mom and dad.  Mom, I hope your evaluation goes well!
Take care and tell everyone I say hi!

We have a few families that are sweet....

Everything went well with the baptism. The family loves me so they wanted me to do it like a told you. But the girl, Elizabeth, didn’t plug her nose all the way so she got a bunch of water in her nose haha. I was like oh uh not my fault haha. But they were like, “Elder what happened?” I was like “I’m sorry.” But besides that everything turned out great. She was stoked to finally be baptized.

I’m happy to stay with my comp. There’s got to be a reason I’m with him, And he’s not that challenging. I’m teaching him how to be a little more humble. Before my mission my eyes were brown? Now they’re green and I think I’ve grown. How tall is Jake? I hope I’m taller.

That’s awesome about your RS calling. You’re a stud mom. But you will like your new calling. The Relief Society is easily one of the most important parts of this church! And that’s cool dad will be teaching that class. So now who is the new bishop? Who’s in our ward now.

Yeah for sure I want to go to UVU and live at home. But later on go to BYU and live at BYU. Sound good? I just don’t wanna be one of the annoying BYU kids so you gotta help with that.

Mom my birthday is next Tuesday :) But thanks so much I feel pretty old and full of wisdom because of my maturity. Haha. No I feel the same. ha But I didn’t get my package... I don’t know why.. Weird maybe you could call again.

So besides the baptism not that much happened with week. We are working on finding but we have a few families that are sweet in the sector. We have this family where the parents live together. But the mom all her life has had dreams about like a demon who always says to her in her dreams that he is going to persecute her all her life and all this stuff. She says it really freaks her out. She actually once got baptized but did it for her mom but never was confirmed. But then she said a few days after we started teaching her she had a dream that the demon came back and was knocking on her gate outside her house. And said the same thing like I am finding you and I will be here always. But she said this time was different, Another person, dressed in white came from the side of her house and said to the demon leave and don’t ever come back. Then went up to her and said I’m here, I’ve always been here and I’ll be protecting you. Then she said she felt a peace she hasn’t felt in years. Well it motivated her to read the Book of Mormon and she read more than the assignment we gave her and she said she has a ton of questions. We want to help them get married and her baptized with her kids. And the dad also, He was a pastor in another church. We’ve hardly talked to him but he’s awesome. He would be a strong member.

But that is about it so far in the work. We talk to some people in the street and knocked some doors and got some return appointments so this week we should find some good people.

Oh and also Tanner Mangum got to my mission. He is in my district. We played football today actually. He’s good. We were the QB’s ha. Playing football with Latin’s is so fun. I got really burned but loved it.

I felt the spirit this week in finding. I really can feel it as I talk and testify to the people. It’s an awesome feeling. I want to see you guys but honestly hope the rest of the time goes slow. I can’t get enough of it. Love you guys and hope all is well. Take care and stay faithful in all moments.

Con mucho amor :)

People here have gotten mad at us for not visiting them...

We just had transfers but I am staying, Which was a relief because people here are so awesome and the girl we are baptizing Wednesday really wants me to do it. Her parents said they would only let her if I do it. haha. My comp is pretty cool. He's a loud mouth, ha, that is the best way to explain him but we do get along. I'm teaching him how to be a little quieter and how to get people to like him a little more ha :)
So Dad is released! It will be good for him, Have time to now focus on Compworks.  Bummer, tell Trevor to write me.  Yeah I read Kaleb's blog, it seems likes hes doing good. It's a struggles once you get to the field too but then you get over in and you don't think about the family, just the work.  Tell jake I say good luck with lacrosse and tell Megan not to like boys.  Yeah that sounds hard to plan lessons all day. We just plan for an hour ha its easy!  You have an Iphone now?

Well, this week was better than last week. We were looking for new people and stopped visiting alot of investigators. I'll let someone else in the future try to go back because they just lost interest or something. But we have two baptisms so far for September. But this week we want to put more dates. We have that girl who finally got permission this Wednesday. It's the one that her parents told me she can only do it if I baptize her, haha I dont know why they love me so much, Im just me haha. Then we had this partial family who the dad doesnt want anything to do with the Church. But we just were friends with him and he started asking about the Church and he wants us to help him build up his roof or something. Hes a DJ so I always talked to him about my favorite types of music. I think he's starting to get a lot of trust with us. It seems like missionaries here are different. To get someone interested in the Church, you can't talk about the Church right off ya know. You have to get to know them and then they always started asking like what do you believe or whatever then we teach from there. It reminds me a lot of Ammon how he didn't go to the king right away and start talking about God, he was his servant first. Then the king got interested and later converted. Thats how Chile is exactly! I love it, ha people here have gotten mad at us for not visiting them.. Like people who are recently becoming active.

Oh, this week I got really sick. But I just kept working and working and it got worse and worse so I went to this like instacare and it was so funny. So I guess for Chileans its free. Its just like a little checkup place then give you a few pills or tell you to go to the hospital. But because I'm not Chilean I would've had to pay. So I was like yeah I'm good. But then she gave in and let me pass. And all the nurses were like talking in English and kinda flirty a little, haha, but they said because were good kids doing good things she would give me enough pill to finish the treatment. Cause I guess they normally just give a few. It was a blessing and now I feel good. Well with medicine I feel good. I have bronchitis.

That's about it. Our branch is AWESOME. Everybody wants to help. Thats rare in Chile but we take advantage of it. Oh and that family we baptized are talking about the temple. Do you think I could come back for there sealing?? Is it crazy expensive... anyways. That's all about this week.
Hope all is well and keep me updated.

Viva chile :)

Man I love how we are able to have the priesthood...

Last week was awesome, but this last week wasn't the greatest. We put a date for baptism for this girl who hasn't been able to get permission for 3 months. We just passed by the parents until they gave her permission. I was so happy. Their parents LOVE me. They get mad when I don't go by there house, I dont even know why. But unfortunetly they don't really like the church. I tried a ton helping understand why this is the true church, but they won't stop smoking. But I think the example of their daughter will help them.

Then this week I did splits with another missionary who wanted to go home and kinda helped him out and he told me he wants to stay.  It was like this is the first time he felt like supported by leaders. Then saturday I taught in the stake a capacitation for youth. It was like a mini MTC and Elder Sarmiento and I were teachers. Right after we went to a swap meet and did contacts. I noticed that it has been 3 months since I knocked doors. I started working more with members. But my comp is really, really, really shy with new people. So this week we will be knocking doors so we can be more outgoing. Ha :) Hes funny he's really prideful, so I use my sarcasm (You know how I am) to humble him and we get along haha.

This week I feel the spirit during a blessing super strong. Man I love how we are able to have the priesthood and that God has trusted us with the power of helping people with what weve been blessed with.

Things sound great, Im glad you love teaching. Crazy about Dad. Im going home to a different ward... Sweet ha I want to start recordings. So send me one this week ok :) I sent a short one. But my package isnt here, everyone is the ward knows its my birthday so Ill have a good day this year ha :)
Love you mom  and dad, for everything you've done. I'm working on pics but no promises.

There's a group on facebook from my branch. They put baptism pics up and everything. The branch is called Paipote, in Copaipo.

Transfers are this week, I doubt I'll leave. I dont want to but we will see!

Love you, tell everyone I say hi. Love ya:)

I love it when the Spirit helps us feel peace

So has Kaleb written you???? Ive been praying for him all week. The first week was the hardest for me, but then it get easy. I hope he is doing all right, I've been telling everyone. Ha

This week was good, we baptized the of the family of four. The dad already got his interveiw to get the Aronic Priesthood. But Saturday was unreal hectic. I have a solid testimony that satan does everything in his power so that people do not get baptized. I've started telling investigator when we put the date that satan is going to start working with them as he did on saturday, well us and them.

Here's what happened. First in the morning we played soccer  (4 Goals By the way) But Elder Dutson like broke his foot and he had to baptize a kid at four. So we had to fill up the font for the baptism at four and as we were getting showered the door on the bathroom broke and Elder Sarmiento got locked in the bathroom for like an hour because Chilean door knobs are weird and they dont have an easy way to take them off. After breaking it and getting the font filled, we had a barbeque with members at 1. So we had to run fill the font then get him to the barbeque which was way far away then get him to the baptism. That all went down well because the members helped us out with there cars. So the baptism went well at four it was just a nine year old, but Dutson messed up and the kid got water in his nose and his foot stuck up. So he had to do it again but didn't want to. So after some convincing we got him.

Then we wait till Seven which was the four People getting baptized. A lady from the other missionaries and Our three out of the family of four. So They get there and they didnt bring there shirts and the dress we finally had gotten didnt fit the girl. So we rushed getting shirts and baptismal clothes that fit and we finally got everything together. Then during the baptism, with 7 of us in white, we all just felt a peace. Like finally everything would turn out fine. I love when the spirit helps us feel peace. Then everything went well. They loved it, the dad said he felt like he had taken off a load off his back. Greatest day of my life. They loved it then after we went to there house and they suprised us with dr pepper!!!! It made the perfect end to the perfect day.

Then sunday night we taught them about preisthood and the temple. They are anxious to go, they want to go before and do baptisms for the dead . It was sweet. I got sick tho but I didnt even really notice til everything was done. But it was amazing, next year if possible I want to come back for there sealing!!

Elder Golpe is my comps name. He is with me in the soccer pics.  Copiapo is the big city like salt lake. Im in the little city part called Paipote. Like Salt lake county, then draper, like that. Sweet about work how is it? Is it like you thought it would be??

I checked out his blog and everyone looks sadder with him then when I left.... hahahha no, jk but it'll be an awesome experience. I love him I cant wait to see the things he will do and the person he will become. The mission is unreal, how fast some can progress is literally a miracle. Without this I wouldn't be who I need to and definitely would not be able to one day enter in the Kingdom of God. But more importantly help Gods children return to him. I love this work.

Hope all is well and thanks for everything. I love you mom and dad, take care and have a good week. I always think I may miss you now, but we will be together for eternity.
Love u guys,

I love the mission...

Thats awesome kaleb is leaving, He is going to be an awesome missionary and grow so much. I'm jealous of his personality being as friendly as he his he will be a straight up stud in the mission. Tell him good luck for me and let him know that I'll be praying for him. Could you buy a little Chilean flag to him and say its from me. I wanted to send one but I ran out of money last month. Ha I was a poor guy.

You know megan manning? I wanna see the new video :/ Sweet tho. Conners back already wow. I bet he was a stud missionary!! Tell him I say hi.Thanks for the birthday package :) No my camera works I took pics in my apartment today. Just have to upload them now. ill do it real quick.

This week was tough. We spent most of the days walking trying to find people. But our family we have is getting baptized this week. He lost his job like a week before we taught tithing and he still was like yeah Ill do it. We explained how this will help him a ton and he will be blessed for making the choice and everything. I'll send pics of the baptism but its cool helping them stop smoking and drinking and stuff. They want to go to the temple in a year from now. Theyre kinda rich so they could go easily I feel like. But the rest of our poeple are lazy. Chileans are hands down the nicest but easily the laziest people. But its not an excuse because when they're dedicated they don't fall through, its awesome.

But everything else is good, they're a bunch of people here who love us when we visit them they get mad at us for not going over to there house enough. Haha its pretty funny. OHHH a funny story we taught this kid diego who has a girlfriend they law of chastity because he was going to get baptized too but we have to put it off. But we taught him and at first he said no i cant do it.... but then we explained all the blessing and he agreed, so he will get baptized in September, for my birthday haha.

I love the mission, I'm so glad Ive had the opurtunity to serve when I did. I'm grateful for the things I've overcome to be here, And the things I'm learning here. I wouldn't be the person Heavenly Father needs me to if i wasn't here. Thanks for giving me the oportunity of being a missionary.
Love you mom and dad, heres the pics!

P.S. I bought an expensive winter jacket... It was like 90 But its so nice and illl use it after... But I found two sweaters last week for 4 and 6 bucks. sweet huh??
