I feel like I've changed a lot in the last 8 weeks..

I’m still in Paipote, Copaipo.  Its pretty nuts I’m turning 21 still can’t believe it. I’m olddd! The fam is growing! Tyler’s having a kid... He got home when I left haha. Sounds fun did you go boating?  Kaleb leaves soon, is he stoked. I keep talking to everyone about him, Sweden sounds like it’ll be sweet. It's really clean I hear!

This week was unreal. We had transfers and like you know I’m training and they switched my district to Elders now, used to be sisters but not anymore. Then the new President is changing EVERYTHING. We used to work until 1030 and the latest now its 930. We used to be able to do activities now they’re banned. We used to get together as a zone each week now just as districts... Its weird and I’m not completely in agreement with all of the rules, but I know he is an inspired president so I will follow them, just with go by faith. So then I went to Antofa to get my son and our bus to leave got delayed. Then it came and it was flooded ha with water... It was nasty. So after 10 hours of lost time waiting, we got on the 8 hour bus ride to Copiapo. After that things have been great. We starting working with a bunch of families. We have baptism dates kinda we just need to fill out the papers and then they’re ready. 

My comp is from Argentina. He’s interesting. The other night we talked about the seventy and the prophet and he said something like "I will be the prophet" I was like uhhhhh huh? Haha but he’s a good worker and wants to work hard. The sector is sweet too. We had 8 Investigators in Church. Miracles legit are happening all around us. It blows my mind are faith as grown a ton. For example, we went to invite this girl to church and we get there and finally we met her mom but it seemed like she didn’t really want anything from us she was with a bunch of people but we still invited her to church and she said yes. (Everyone says yes BTW) But I though nahhh she won't come. But the daughter for sure. So we go by with a member in her little car and the mom comes out and goes "Hey, I don’t think were all going to fit" I’m like sweet you’re coming, we can just walk. We did and they liked church a lot. She started crying during Sunday school because she says for years she’s felt pain and felt like God is giving her too much to handle. Were helping her and her two daughters it was awesome. I felt the spirit strong while teaching her during the class. 

THEN, This lady Claudia, HATES talking in church and sharing, she just likes going and listening. But I guess in relief society she shared about how she came back to church just because we showed her that we cared by calling her a bunch and asking her about how’s it going with smoking. Then one day we got her to give it up and she gave me all her ash trays.  But yeah this ward is awesome. I don’t want to leave, I have two newbie’s in the pension, gets me stoked to be doing this. I know it’s the Lords work. When I’m home I want to keep doing it just in our ward, If possible. 

I honestly feel like I’ve changed in the last 8 weeks of my mission. I love it thanks for all you’ve done to help me be here. I wouldn’t change this for anything. 

Did you send my package already? I lost my oil case thing I need a new one!! I love you mom and dad and everyone, thanks for everything. Hope all is well!!

Hey I'm just writing real quick. I couldn't write Monday because I went to Antofa to get my second kid. I'm training again ha, and I got moved from district of sisters to elders. So things are dope, my comps name is Elder Golpe and Golpe means punch so everyone makes jokes about his name. He's cool, another one from Argentina, ha.

 

Things are sick in this sector we have a baptismal date for a soccer player who's trying to go pro, should  be sweet. I'll look for a suit here and in my birthday package I want Costa Vida, just send it in a cooler :) Ha, no probably just fruit snacks, swedish fish and laffy taffys. Take pics of Kaleb's farewell what day does he go in again?

 

Well just a quick update, we've got to go do service. I love this mish, take care Mom, Dad and everyone .

It rained really hard here, which never happens

WELL, this week was a dud because we lost contact with almost all our sweet going to be baptized investigators. Its killer but we plan on doing anything possible to find them. Francias mom is about to die and is never home. Juan is always working. Javiera doesn’t have permission form her grandparents and Eli’s parents hate the church. Ha BUT we found a fam whose husband and kids aren’t members but the wife wants to start going to church again. We have an appointment with them at six tonight. I don’t know what else to tell you ha.

 

OH, it rained really hard here, which never happens. It was weird being wet, it’s never happened my whole mission ha-ha. Then that Claudia lady I told you about who we baptized her son her daughter wants to come live with us in the states and thinks Jordan is cute, haha it was funny! Things are good though I like the people here, they’re really chill. Other than that, not too much going on. I want a car so bad. Ha, I get sick of walking everywhere, but now I walk fast haha.

 Hey, there is a sister going home this week who lives in Riverton. I’m sending some stuff with her for Mom and I’ll try to find something for everyone. If not I’ll just save it till the end of the mish. But I will try if you want anything special. I was thinking soccer jerseys for the fam??

I guess I'm heading into the old man phase..

First of all one of my pairs of shoes has a hole in them... do we have a guarantee? If you send me tan pants, send me slim fit like the ones like Christmas. And I need to decide to buy a second suit here or have you send me one... what do you think?? Also the same with the bag thingy, I need to buy one cause we cant use backpacks anymore.. ha.

 

Ok well about my President. At first I thought he was really weird because he’s less competitive than President Bruce and like did his thing totally different. But I warmed up to it quick, he is just a lot more humble. Pres. Bruce just was like another missionary really who was the President, but I also feel like Pres. Dalton is going to help the mission a ton. His wife too is cool. She speaks Spanish which is weird and also loves music. They seem pretty cool and really spiritual people.

 

This week was good. My comp is interesting to be honest. He acts funny and sometimes does things that are like... HUH?? But he is a good guy. We have had moments, but get along. I kinda understand why a mission is like marriage prep. haha.

 

 

We have a HUGE pool of investigators. Almost too much, we have had to decide which ones to go to and which ones to stop visiting. But we should have a lot of baptisms this month or the next because we are working more with members and they are trusting us a ton more. It’s been a blessing. 

 

We had a baptism this week his name is Javier. He’s a nine year old kid but it helped his family a lot. His mom after twenty years is going to church and loves having us in her house. Its cool then I had one of those golden investigators experiences. This girl Javier went up to her Mormon friend and was like I wanna go to a church and become more religious. Ha so she went last week and we are going to meet with her Wednesday. We are see blessings in the sector. Its like everything that could be going good is going good haha, I love Paipote. 

 

Don’t worry about having another missionary go out Mom, it’s just two years than we’re together for an eternity. Plus the mission gets rid of the 18 year old attitude haha. Do I look old? Jake says I look thirty here they tell me I look 23, 24-ish. I guess I’m heading in to the old man phase...

I love how we feel the spirit so strong when helping other people

It was a little hard with my comp at first, but now we are buds. It's just different speaking in spanish all the time, but things are going good. We went around telling everybody it was the fourth of july everyone knows what it is, but nobody really remembered. I put the star spangled banner as my ring tone, haha it was funny.

This week was good, we have a baptism this week. Its the son of a less active. She smokes and hadnt been for 20 years. The first day I met her we didn't even talk about the church. I just talked to her like a friend and at acted like we knew each other (and it felt like we did, it was weird) But yeah at the end I said, oh yeah and are you coming to church sunday. She said ehh maybe, if you call me and wake me up, maybe I'll go. So we called her, and SHE CAME! Then came up to us and said I need you to baptize my son. So we are and also helping her quit smoking. Shes awesome now. My comp says when he met her he hated her. She would blow smoke in there face and would say I'll never stop and never am going back to church. And she wennnnnt, ha!

 

Then we have Eli whos parents wont let her get baptized, but we are fasting and praying. Then we have Francia who knows this is true and knows she needs baptism by immersion, but its hard for her to let the virgin Mary go, but with time. Then we found a family of four whose mom has cancer. They're going through a rough time, but the mom said I need to be closer to God or she said something like that. She is a little rebellious, I dont know. But she's sweet, she said she hopes one day her fam can all be members. So we are goin to help them with that.

It's awesome because we pray that people who are need can be found in the sector then a week later find them. Oh and one more fam whos mom cheated on the dad and the dad killed himself. So a 16and 17 year old couple is taking care of 12, 10, 5 and 2 month old kids. But we are helping them and we brought them bread and stuff. I love how we can feel the spirit so strong when helping other people. And when we feel the spirit helping others through us. I love missionary work!! I might ask for extension because I'll just be bumming the summer out if not, ya know.

 

Kaleb liked the temple, that is good. He will be a stud missionary, he looks good in the pics and old. That is sad about Scotts son... Tell jord I say hi and are your classes hard? Everyone I tell think its cool your a teacher, ha and me too! Its goin to be cool when I see you teaching. ha. You can't tell your missionary son how much time he has, ha! Today me and a missionary we live with were talking about it and I got teary eyed (Didnt cry, just teary eyed) thinking about the day I'll have to hang up the pack. I love this too much to think about it now. I wanna see you guys, but don't want to stop serving.

I'm used to this place already

I took all the pics and stuff but I just need to send them. I'm in the city Copiapo and the sector Piapote. My comp is Elder Contrera and is from Argentina. I've had comps from everywhere, ha. My camera is fine now, but when Pia got baptized it wasnt working and my comp still hasn't send me pics, but when he does I'll send you them real quick. Our sector's good, we have two baptism dates, but hope to have more. I'm used to this place already. But the cool thing here is Claudia, I think I told you about her. But she hadn't been in forever and now shes going and her kids are getting baptized. Then this other family, Veronica Edward and Elizabeth.  They love me, but aren't that interested, only the daughter, they're cool tho. 

 

I bought a new coat its helped a lot and I love it. I'll send you a pic next week. I'm having someone lend me a computer and  we had no time to do anything this Pday because we had an activity. 

 

We meet the new Pres the eleventh of July. I have heard he is more spiritual and wants to baptize even more when we are already number one in Chile.

Elder Farnworth

She is my miracle and my motiviation to have faith in everyone.

Sorry about last week, I haven't been able to take a pic yet, but my new sector is awesome. My comp is a little weird, but the sector is aesome and the members are good too. It's a rama in the city called Copiapo. It's called Piapote and like 3 months ago there like 30 people going to church and this Sunday we had 85. Every less active we taught went to church. It was pretty awesome. Then we had investigators who should be getting baptized in July.

Before I left Arica we had an awesome baptism experience with our investigator Pia. When we met her she had a bunch of peircings and smoked. When we first taught her the importance of baptism she told us "dont talk to me about baptism, I dont want to." But we helped her get them all out. And finally Saturday, ten minutes before the baptism she decided to get baptized.  She had told us she wanted to get baptized at four, but in the morning her mom and sister said it was too soon so she almost didn't. So we were baptizing some of our other investigators and then she called ten minutes before and said, "I'm spiritually ready come get me and Ill be baptized at six", it was a miracle! When I met her I thought this girl wont ever progress, but it was cool because I gave a talk the next day and talked about how she is my miracle and my motivation to have faith in everyone. I told them I call her my miracle, it was cool. Yeah I saw the conference it was cool. I don't think we will use technology that much here, but maybe.  You guys all sound great!! Take Jake congrats and send more pics from New York.
